Former Broward County Mayor Barbara Sharief is pleased to commemorate her year in office and welcome her successor Beam Furr. In her Facebook post Mayor Sharief thanked a variety of people in both her professional and personal lives. The Facebook Post reads:
Today culminated a year of my serving as Mayor of Broward County. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve through the airport tragedy as well as Hurricane Irma. Our community proves time and time again that it is strong and resilient and I couldnt have asked for a better team of people to work with throughout. Thanks to my children Amanda Murias, Alyssa Sharief, Hailey, Meia Chambers, and Zachary Chambers for always supporting me. Thanks to our Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz for the kind congessional recognition and for taking the time to come and present it at the meeting it was truly a surprise and very humbling. Thanks to Mayor Beam Furr for the plaque and @bestmom t-shirts everything was so thoughtful. I want to congratulate our new Mayor Beam Furr and our new Vice Mayor Mark Bogen on their new roles, I know they will do well. Commissioner Barbara Sharief.
